A Note from the Treasurer

Hello Scouts and Parents,

I recently took over the role of Treasurer for the Troop.  One of my goals in this role is to keep all members of the Troop better informed about the financial situation of individual Troop members and the Troop as a whole.

Two weeks ago, I emailed every member of the Troop a financial statement that showed the Scout’s and Adult’s account balance.  If you did not get this email, check your junk folder.  Also, a reminder that you can login to the Troop website anytime to see your balance and a breakdown of money spent and earned (note* There are still a few camping trips from 2024 that have not been entered).  I will continue to send out monthly statements.

As for the Troop as a whole, I unfortunately need to report that we are not in a good position financially.  There are currently 28 members with negative balances in their individual accounts totaling $12,363.78.  What that means is that the Troop has loaned Scouts and Adults significant amounts of money to go on trips over the last few years, and it has not been repaid.  Individual account balances need to be paid up to even.  This can be done with Fundraising (Camp Cards, Popcorn, Wreath Sales), or payments can be made to the Troop directly.

Please work toward bringing individual account balances back to even or positive amounts. I do understand this has been and continues to be a tough time from an economic standpoint, but we don’t want to be in position where trips can’t be taken because we are in the Red.

As a reminder, instructions on how to deposit money into your Scout Account can be found here: https://www.bsatroop640.com/depositmoney/
