Good question. At one point in the past, the Troop may have provided an actual bag of some sort to hold the 10 essentials. This is no longer the case – the kit can be some sort of holder for everything. Many Scouts just pack their 10 essentials in their pack (small backpack, duffel, etc). It’s most important to make sure they have them, then secondarily important to know where they are. A ”kit bag” is a nice-to-have to keep it all easily accessible.
