Scouts, please wear your Class A uniforms!
As a reminder, Jacob’s Eagle Court of Honor is THIS SATURDAY at the Peak! Please join us as we celebrate our latest Eagle Scout and don’t miss out on a very special guest who will be in attendance!
Save the date! As discussed in our last meeting, Jacob B’s Eagle Court of Honor is set for Saturday, April 22nd from 2-4pm at the Peak Community & Wellness Center (across from the Edge and the Ridge Rec Center). Anyone in the Troop current or past is invited as we celebrate his accomplishments. Snacks and cake will be provided after the ceremony.

Here are the bowling rates:
$4 shoe rental – unless you have your own
1 game is $6.80
2 games is $12.50
90 minutes is $14.50
Unlimited is $17
You can also rent pool tables, dart boards, ping pong tables, and play games in the arcade. Class B’s requested – you can leave your full Class A Uniform at home!

Come one, come all! Have you ever regretted a location we’ve chosen for a past adventure? Have you ever had an idea of an awesome place to go camping? Have you wanted to visit that extra special place for an activity night? Remember that our Troop is led by the Scouts! So we ask ALL Scouts to make an effort to attend our annual planning meeting this coming Saturday at the Church and provide their input to make our 2023 even better than 2022! We will start at 9am and continue until we’ve planned the entire 2023 calendar! Note that we aren’t planning individual meetings – that’s for the PLC to do as usual, however we will plan our monthly campouts, summer camp location, Court of Honor dates, and any other adventures to be had throughout the year.
We ask that parents also attend since they usually know family schedules better and can help solidify dates as well as sign up to lead preferred outings/adventures!
Lunch will be provided and immediately after we’re finished, we will do our annual Church service project and clean up the leaves and other trash (see another post for more details on that).
It turns out that this years annual maintenance shut down for the Ridge is longer than usual which means the Ridge is closed for our planned Activity Night. Instead, we have opted to rent out Weaver Hollow Pool for 2 hours after their normal closing time. Unfortunately, another group had already rented it for Saturday, the 13th, so we got it on Sunday, the 14th instead. This is last day the outdoor pools are open so come enjoy one last hurrah outside! The time is 5:30pm until 7:30pm and everyone is invited (parents, siblings, etc). Final costs will be determined based on how many show up, but the Troop will help subsidize this even to keep it affordable. We are still planning to work on swimming requirements for rank advancement and/or Swimming Merit Badge – we will discuss this at our meeting tomorrow night.
No need to sign up, just show up at the Pool just before 5:30 to maximize your time!
Saturday Night Update: We had a very successful first day at the church but we STILL NEED HELP TOMORROW! Thanks to Beckham, Izaiah, and Alexander for helping in the morning and Caleb, Zack, Jacob, and Mr. Naber for helping all day – we got A LOT accomplished!
- We hit the jackpot with our patrol boxes and found a couple that look hardly used, if at all and placed the two best in the blue trailer for future use.
- We inventoried and found missing pieces out of all the other boxes, making them whole again.
- We fired up EVERY stove (more than a dozen) to ensure they work.
- We identified MANY items for donations.
- We pulled out almost everything from the shed and reorganized it.
- We threw away a carload or so of junk.
- We organized pots and pans, finding lids and placing them all together.
- Everyone took home stuff to be cleaned and returned.
But we AREN’T FINISHED! We still need help tomorrow, Sunday with the following:
- Setting up all the current tents to identify missing parts.
- Organizing the old tents and deciding what to do with them.
- Figuring out our tarp situation (we found a lot more!) so we know what we need to acquire, if any.
- Prepping the white trailer if we need to use it for summer camp this year.
- Setting up Big White if we can figure it out, to see what might be wrong with it.
So PLEASE, if you and/or your Scout is available, we would love to have you drop by tomorrow! I plan to arrive around 10am and will work until we are done. I expect it to be a shorter day, so hopefully we are done by early afternoon. Thanks so much for your continued support!
Many times over the past year or so, usually during/after a campout, the idea has been talked about in regards to getting our troop gear organized and in order. Well we have decided this upcoming weekend is the best time!
The tentative plan is for us to meet at the trailers behind Genesis starting at 9:00am on Saturday, June 12th and work on the trailer contents, the shed contents, and our inside storage contents to take a proper inventory, pilfer/consolidate patrol boxes as appropriate, and decide what equipment should stay, go, and/or be replaced. We will work all day (until 4ish?) and provide lunch. If we need to resume Sunday, we will do so, again planning to start at 9:00am.
It is not required that everyone shows up the whole weekend, however we’d love to get as much help as possible – so please keep us in mind when making your weekend plans and drop by when you can – even for just an hour or two. Remember that maintaining all of our equipment is the whole Troop’s responsibility so we’d love as much support as possible!
We’d also love adults to help out, including someone willing to take lunch orders! Thanks for your continued support of our Troop!

Attending camp this summer? Plan to spend any time in the water in the next year? Then you need to pass your swim check!
We have decided to hold our June 14th Meeting at the Ridge Recreation Center so we can check this off our list! We have decided to also begin Swimming Merit Badge for those of you who don’t already have it! Mrs. Berland has graciously volunteered (along with Alex Berland, a recent Eagle Scout in our Troop) to lead this effort.
We are currently trying to solidify logistics with the Ridge – due to Covid, their hours are shorter than they used to be so be prepared to show up earlier than our usual meeting time. We hope to get this figured out before our meeting Monday night, so make sure to listen for that bulletin!
Thank you to Mathew G. for spearheading this effort!
