Ice Climbing Final Reminders
This weekend we head down to our annual Ice Climbing adventure! We plan to meet at the church at 5:00pm on Friday for a 5:30-ish departure. As always please come with a sack dinner that you can eat in the car on the way down. As a reminder, we passed on some tips from the camp on what to pack in the Event listing on the website. In addition, remember that even though we are sleeping in cabins that may have a portable heater, it will still get chilly/cold! So please pack accordingly. As always, layers are important! When we aren’t climbing, we will be hanging out on the lake, sledding (we have some but if you have one you want to bring, go for it!), and other general OUTDOOR activities, so BE PREPARED for any weather conditions. The current weather forecast for the area near camp is for sub-freezing temperatures the whole weekend with lows likely into the single digits and potentially some snow Saturday afternoon. Don’t forget that our website contains a lot of good resources on how to pack and prepare for cold weather adventures. Check out our basic packing list, this cold weather guide, and this list for your 10 Essentials.
Last year, we returned to the church around 11:15am – I would expect it to be similar this year but as always, Scouts will contact parents as we get close. Also, please double check with Mrs. Mackey before you leave from dropping off your Scout to ensure we have an up-to-date medical form filled out for your Scout. These forms expire every year and for this trip we need an active form A, B1, and B2 (i.e. we do NOT need form C with the doc signatures).
Bundle up and get ready for an excellent adventure! We will see you all Friday evening!
