Project Tenderfoot Photos
This year we decided to shake up our Project Tenderfoot campout and decided to venture all the way to the opposite side of town and utilize Chatfield Reservoir for our annual challenge to get the new Scouts as close to Tenderfoot as possible. The weekend was a rousing success as every new Scout got plenty of requirements signed off and even did some physical fitness testing as well as a 5-mile hike (for Second Class!). We also got to socialize with other Troops as a neighboring girl Troop invited us over for a campfire with skits and general entertainment.
The boys successfully (for the most part) withstood some pretty intense wind and even earned 5 frost points Saturday night. For those who don’t know, you earn 1 frost point for every degree below freezing (32 degrees) it reaches while you sleep outside. That’s right, it was a brisk 27 degrees when we woke up Sunday morning!
We also performed an hour-long conservation project, picking up quite a bit of trash around Chatfield Reservoir Sunday morning and the new Scouts finally received their long awaited neckerchiefs! Kudos also go out to our older Scouts and Beckham, your trip SPL, for leading this great adventure.
