Eagle Scout Project – Foothills Hockey Association Storage Shed – Tanner Osolinski
Overview
I have been lucky enough to play hockey for ten years, and through the sport I have learned about respect, commitment, teamwork, leadership, and determination. Hockey is incredible and my hope is that more kids have the opportunity to play this great sport.
One of the biggest barriers for kids to try hockey is having all the gear. Not every family can afford to buy the equipment for their child to try the sport. I worked with the board of directors at the Foothills Flyers Hockey Association to develop a plan where the association could collect used hockey equipment that could be loaned to new players who want to try the sport. The board had concerns that there was no space to store the used equipment safely.
My Eagle Scout Project provided the Foothills Flyers with storage for the used hockey gear. The project took place on August 4th and 5th, 2018 at the Edge Ice Arena.
In 2018, I created a plan to build a 10 ft by 10 ft storage shed, coordinated the location and permits with the Foothills Parks and Recreation department, completed fundraising and led the construction of the shed.
Below are pictures and my complete plan for the project.
