Train Show Coming – Attend or Volunteer!
We received the following email about the upcoming Train Show. Last year, several of our Scouts attended and obtained the Railroading Merit Badge – if you want to just attend, that’s fine, but if you’re interested in volunteering, read on!
Subject: Scouting Volunteers Request – Rocky Mountain Train Show
Good evening.
The Rocky Mountain Train Show will be held on Saturday, April 1st and Sunday April 2nd this year and we are looking for Scout and Scouter volunteers in uniform to help staff this event.
If you are not familiar with the Train Show (Rocky Mountain Train Show) It is being held at the National Western Stock Show Complex and is the largest model train event west of the Mississippi River. For many years RMTS has been a strong supporter of the Scouting Program. All Scouts and Scouters in uniform get into the show for free. They host the Railroading Merit Badge and provide a large booth for Information and recruitment. All they ask in return is that we provide some volunteers to assist with ticket sales and set up/take down.
We are asking for your help both support this event with some time as well as getting the word out to other Scouts and Scouters that would volunteer to provide a few hours of support to this very fun event.
We are looking for volunteers to spend a few hours on Saturday and Sunday (April 1&2)
- Ticket Sales
- Running the Kiddie Train loading and unloading.
- Staffing the Scouting USA Information booth
This will have a STEM display that includes an operating Ham Radio, Nuclear Science Display, 1st Aid / Outdoor Essentials Display and whatever other ideas you might also come up with.
We also need helpers with Thursday and Friday Set-up.
If you can help, please contact Brad Johnston, Thanks!
