  • Service Project & Troop Annual Planning

Saturday, 2 November at Abiding Hope Nature School, starting at 10 AM. We will be doing our calendar planning for 2025. Remember that EVERYONE is invited, especially if you want input on all of our trips next year! We will also be raking leaves and moving equipment from inside storage to outside storage.

  • Trailer Cleanup

A huge shout out and thank you to all that helped get a ton of work done earlier today at our annual trailer cleanup! While several adults worked to repair our broken trailer corral, Scouts emptied and reorganized the trailers, pulled copious weeds, organized our wood piles, performed wasp/bee duty, and consumed pizza! We worked from approximately Noon until just after 5:00pm. Photos at the normal location on the website!

  • Be In A Parade!

    Hello, Scouts of Troop 640!

Scout Troop 989 would like to invite you to participate in the Grand Parade of the 96th annual Western Welcome Week the morning of Saturday, August 17! Coffee and Donuts will be provided.

This parade runs a 1.7 mile route down Littleton Blvd through a cheering crowd. It will be our glorious job to follow behind the Westernaires who are riding a couple dozen horses and shovel up the poop that they leave behind. WAIT! KEEP READING! It is actually a lot of fun! Our energetic scooping activities make us a crowd favorite, with the whole crowd cheering us on.

If you have never been in a parade, it is an experience that you will never forget, and are some of my best memories. This is also a chance to earn a full morning’s worth of service hours.

    Logistics:

We will meet at 8am at the Arapahoe Community College parking lot, Northwestern corner. From there, we will walk to the office of Dave Law, who will be providing coffee (for parents) and donuts, then on to the starting line of the parade. We will complete the parade route near the same parking lot at ACC around noon. If you are able to attend, please contact me (Chris Brown) directly at (remember to CC another adult). We will need shovels, push brooms, and wheel barrows. If you can provide, please let me know.

    Scout on!

    -Chris Brown, Troop 989

  • Annual Trailer Cleanup Sunday!

We neglected to bring up our annual Trailer Cleanup which is happening this Sunday at the church (around back where the trailers are stored). We will pull the trailers out of the storage area, clean up weeds, chop up wood for future fires, and start fixing the fence in addition to reorganizing the trailers so we are ready for the winter camping season. Please drop by anytime after Noon as we will work until we feel we are finished. Food will be provided – bring water and work gloves.

  • Alexander’s Eagle Project

I am doing my Eagle Scout Project this Saturday, August 26th from 9 AM to 3PM.  I am building a pergola at Light of the World Church.

I really need Scouts and due to BSA safety guidelines, I also need adults. Please consider signing up to help me.  It would be great to have at least 4 youth and 4 adults during the whole time I am planning to build.  Please come for as long as you can during those times.

We will build pergolas in the Rosary Garden at Light of the World.

This is in the parking lot of Light of the World (10306 W Bowles Ave, Littleton, CO 80127).

Please sign up on the website ASAP. If you forget and want to just show up Saturday, that’s allowed as well! Service hours will be granted!
